Hello and welcome to “What is Climate Change and Sustainability?” – a course by Aranyaarth Foundation.
We are thrilled that you want to take the first step toward learning about the health of our planet and what you can do to make it better.
Our Earth is facing a climate emergency and we believe that the Climate Change problem can be solved if we all work together, and that’s where you can help!
Millions of students around the world are coming together to demand their governments – adults in authority – to take action against Climate Change.
By learning more about what causes Climate Change and how it negatively affects our everyday lives, you can use your creative energy to design new solutions that make the planet happy – and you, the hero of a happy planet.
My name is Anvita Kasar and I’m the Founder of Aranyaarth Foundation.
As an educator, I’ve worked with hundreds of students to develop their understanding of Climate Change and help them design their own unique approach to sustainable living.
So what is climate change? Why do we need to learn more about it? Why should you and I worry about stopping it?
In this course, I will share the main causes of what is threatening our survival on earth.
I will walk you through the root causes of the climate crisis – our unhealthy natural ecosystems. If you don’t understand what ecosystems are, don’t worry. Here I will explain what ecosystems are, how they work, as well as how our current way of life disturbs their natural renewal cycles, causing the climate to change.
Along the way, we take a look at the solutions that are available, proposed by scientists from around the world and then we look at how you can apply these solutions creatively to your own context to restore the health of the ecosystems around you.
Our planet is our only home – and even if someday scientists do discover another planet where we can live, not all of us would be able to make it.
Hence, our only chance at survival is to make our planet – our only home – healthy again.
Because only on a healthy planet can we live a happy life.
Let’s start by listening to 8 year-old Bandi Guan as he explains how the climate is changing and what it means for kids all over the world. You can find this video attached as a resource.
